Sad loss on 5th April of Stephen Harrow FKC, Director of the City Singers
It is with great sadness that we advise of the death on 5th April of Stephen Harrow FKC, Director of the City Singers. This sad loss was not related to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Here are some of the comments we've received:
"The news of Stephen's death is very sad and unexpected. Stephen arrived at St Katharine's about fifteen years ago following his appointment as secretary to the All Saints Educational Trust, who occupied offices on the south side of the church. Throughout those days, Stephen was an enthusiastic and regular worshipper, contributing his many skills. Stephen continued to contribute in retirement through his membership of the City Singers and then when he led them following the death of his predecessor - John Ewington - continuing to uphold the Choir's legacy. Having previously served on the Guild Church Council, Stephen was keen to seek nomination again in 2019, offering whatever assistance he was able. Stephen will be greatly missed by many."
"Stephen was a man of enthusiasm and generosity as well as creativity. His loss will be widely felt."
"Stephen was a good and kind man and will be sorely missed."
"I found Stephen to be a delightful man who was generous in sharing his musical talents. The whole community of St Katharine Cree Church will miss him."
"To our colleagues at City Singers and to Stephen's family and friends, from all at Lloyd's Choir, our thoughts and prayers are with you."
When current restrictions are lifted, the City Singers hope to organise a memorial service fitting for this able and talented man. We look forward to the time when we can come together to celebrate Stephen's life and his legacy.
Our prayers are with Jenny, Stephen's family and friends, and the City Singers.
